Bishop TD Jakes Reveals Five-Phase Master Plan To Bring Homes, Shopping To Atlanta’s Fort McPherson Area | Black Enterprise |

T.D. Jakes Real Estate Ventures (TDJREV), owned by pastor and evangelist Bishop T.D. Jakes, shared its master plan to build an affordable housing and entertainment districts in Atlanta.  Jake’s real estate venture plans to develop 95 acres in the city’s Fort McPherson area, which was once a Confederate military base site. The land, adjacent to Tyler Perry Studios, was purchased by Jakes and Perry last June, according to local station 11 Alive.  Perry acquired an additional 37 acres to his existing 330 acres, while Jakes acquired the 95 acres he plans to develop.  TDJREV has big plans for the land. Just 10 months after launch, the electric boat startup Arc has secured investments from Will Smith’s Dreamers VC, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Combs Enterprises, and NBA champion Kevin Durant. The company that started with just one $300,000 boat closed a seed round in February led by VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, Tech Crunch reports. The former residents of a Black neighborhood on the outskirts of the University of Georgia (UGA), whose land was taken through eminent domain, are seeking redress from the school. Linnentown was a Black neighborhood until the 1960s when the city of Athens, where UGA is located, claimed eminent domain, the right of a government to expropriate private property for public use, to purchase 22 acres using federal funds, and sold the property to the state board of regents. A family in New Jersey is searching for a young girl who has been missing for two weeks, and now the FBI has joined the investigation into her whereabouts. According to Pix11, a 14-year-old girl has disappeared after going to a deli in East Orange, New Jersey, to pick up items for her family. The girl, JaShyah Moore has not been seen since leaving for the deli on Thursday, Oct. 14. Criminal justice experts say decades of redlining and housing segregation in Wisconsin have led to the second-highest Black incarceration rate in the country. A report from The Sentencing Project states 1 in every 36 Black people in the state currently are in prison. Additionally, Black Americans represent 42% of the state’s prison population despite 6% of the state’s residents being Black. According to NBC News, the report, which used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Justice Statistics, also found Black residents in Wisconsin are 12 times more likely to be imprisoned when compared to white residents.
